Tight Lines!

Fly- and course fishing are pastimes that enthrall more and more people of all age groups.

The rivers and lakes in and around Ruhpolding offer the angler some of the finest fishing waters available, with a diversity of fish including Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout and Grayling.

Every angler must hold a current state fishing licence and a fishing permit. A fishing permit can be obtained from the proprietor of the water. A visitors fishing licence (which requires a passport photograph) is valid for three months only and is available from the local municipal administration offices (die Gemeindeverwaltung). Foreign guests unable to produce a valid „blauen Schein“ (a blue visitors fishing licence) will be denied a fishing permit.

The Taubensee – a small lake – lies at the foot of the Rauschberg Mountain. The wooded slopes of the Rauschberg rise from the sides of the lake to tower above it. The water in Taubensee is pristine, allowing a clear view of the bottom of the lake and the large Trout, Zander, Tench and Pike it holds. The lake is privately owned by the Forellenhof in Eisenärzt.
