Around the Three Lakes
“Little Canada”: Lödensee, Mittersee and Weitsee are popular swimming areas in summer (for hikers, too, once they have their day’s hike “in the bag”!), while there is a well-maintained system of cross-country ski trails in winter.
This lake hike can begin and finish in Seehaus (coming from Ruhpolding) or in Seegatterl (from Reit im Winkl), with several bus stations (RVO) along the Alpenstrasse road. Walkers who are in good condition should definitely tackle the lakes tour in its entirety. The scenery is ample reward for all your efforts.

Route Description:
150 vertical metres, easy
Coming from Seehaus, we first recommend taking the path on the Hörndlwand side to the (marshy) end of the Weitsee, then return via Dürrfeldkreuz and along the Dürrnbachhorn side. Coming from Seegatterl, first make your way up to the Dürrfeldkreuz, continuing on the Dürrnbachhorn side as far as the Wildbachfurt stream crossing, from where you take the Hörndlwand side back to Seegatterl.
From the end of the Weitsee, return via the same route taken at the beginning of your hike.
