Haaralmschneid (elev. 1594m)
The southernmost of the “Hochfellnschneiden” peaks is the jagged Haaralmschneid which, when viewed from Ruhpolding, towers up above the Neslauerkessel basin, a striking sight in its own right, like a rocky rooster comb.
The Haaralmschneid may be ascended easily from the south via broad, sunny, grassy hillsides; the views, especially across to the towering Hörndlwand and extending to the Hohe Tauern range itself, are ample reward for the sweat you may have spilled along the way!
Located on the Haaralmen is a dairy farm, where simple refreshments are also available.

Route Description:
4 1/2 hr. walk, 830 vertical metres, easy
From the small church known as “Maria im Schnee”, you head straight into the forest, making your way steeply uphill to a flat forestry road. Soon you will need to keep to the right (at the sign) and again make your way via a series of steep switchbacks (past the “Eingefallene Wand”, a small waterfall) through open forest to the Haaralm (several dairy farms).
Continue across sunny open meadows, steadily climbing, keeping to the left
and following a barely recognisable path alongside the forest’s edge, finally
making a steep ascent to a small mountain peak (Warning: the north side poses a
significant risk of falling!) with imposing alpine vistas.
Descend via the
same route.
