Winter Adventures in Ruhpolding

Winter is a time of tranquillity, a time seemingly predestined for recreation in the clear, refreshing alpine air of the Chiemgau mountains.

Aside from walks to mountain inns and hikes to an array of attractive destinations in the winter countryside, we have also put together a variety-packed events program for you to enjoy.  In the twilight, for example, you should definitely experience a feeding at a wildlife enclosure, where, with a little bit of luck, you will be able to see red deer emerge from the winter forest. After dark, our inns await you with a steaming glass of “Hunt Tea”, hearty snacks, as well as a broad selection of culinary delights befitting the winter, all served to you in a warm and cozy traditional setting.

Even without skis clamped to their feet, our guests still find themselves in the midst of boundless wintertime fun.  Passionate walkers can take full advantage of a 50 km-long network of cleared winter hiking paths amid untouched countryside, while a sledding adventure along the natural toboggan run from the Raffner Alm all the way to the valley below, is a high-spirited adventure for the whole family.

With the Rauschberg cable car and the Unternberg chair lift, holiday-makers have a convenient means to reach the summits of Ruhpolding’s most popular mountains, where they can relax at a mountain inn and soak in the views of the magnificent panoramas around them.
If you prefer a more leisurely pace, why not enjoy an intimate getaway for two, or perhaps with your whole family, as you wrap yourself snugly in warm blankets and head out on a horse-drawn sleigh ride.

As spectators at international winter sporting events, visitors to Ruhpolding can rub shoulders with stars from around the world. Every year, in front of thousands of spectators, Ruhpolding hosts the Biathlon World Cup, transforming this idyllic village into a mecca for fans from far and wide.

But Ruhpolding also offers a great selection of indoor activities as well. There is the big ice arena, for example,  with its modern climbing wall, the indoor tennis centre with 4 courts and courses for all age and ability levels, the indoor riding arena, the Woodcutters Museum and much more.

And after a day in the snow, there is nowhere better to warm up and unwind than the “VITA ALPINA” Adventure & Wellness Pool. The salt-water outdoor pool is a true treat for body and soul, as is the spacious sauna facility.
Our little “surfer dudes” are also well looked-after here as well.  They will have a great time in the wave pool, at a variety of aquatic play areas, as well as on the giant slide.
