Urschlau - Rötelmoos - Weitsee

Urschlau is the end of the road which runs from Ruhpolding to Brand. A broad forestry road leads out to the high-pasture area of Rötelmoos beneath the Hörndlwand.  The trail runs to the Weitsee through an initially narrow valley flanking a lively stream known as the Wappbach. The Weitsee itself can only be seen at the very last, though that makes the view (and the thought of taking a refreshing dip) even more alluring.

Trail Times:
Urschlau – Rötelmoos a good hour
Rötelmoos – Weitsee a good hour

From the car park in Urschlau, first head west, then south, making your way via a steeper, yet quite broad forestry road up to the service hut and the Rötelmoosalmen (one of the huts offers simple refreshments).
Continue southwards (to the left is a wonderful high-moors area) into the forest and along the banks of the Wappbach, descending to the Weitsee and the Alpenstrasse road.

Return to Ruhpolding by bus – the stop is located on the eastern end of the Weitsee.
