Staubfall Tour
Combined cycling and hiking tour. Bike route is approximately 10 km in
length, featuring a gentle, yet continuous climb. Hiking path is 3 km long
via a fixed-line mountain trail.
Tour Description:
By bike from the starting point at the Ecklbrücke/speedway stadium, following the Traun river as far as the Allinger Holzstube. Once there, first make a right over the bridge, then take an immediate left and follow the forestry road. At the next turn-off, make a left and continue along the Fischbach as far as the rest shelter. From here, on foot uphill to the Staubfall falls, passing underneath the waterfall and continuing gradually uphill to the Heutal Valley in Austria. Return via the same route.
Sign-posted throughout: “Ruhpoldinger Radlwege” (green), “Staubfall-Tour”; hiking trail sign-posted as “Nr. 3 Staubfallweg”.
Special Features along the Route:
- Many smaller, yet fast-flowing streams and the Staubfall waterfall (drops a depth of 200 m).
- The trail to the Heutal was once a popular smuggling route between Bavaria and Austria.
- From the trail, hikers can enjoy impressive views of the Fischbach Valley deep below.
- Woodcutters Museum is also located along the route.

Fritz am Sand, Laubau, Heutaler Hof and Alpengasthof Heutal.
Variants:
Also possible to join the tour in the Laubau from the car park at the Woodcutters Museum.
Tipp:
Take a detour to the Biathlon Centre with its ski-jump hill.
