Bavarian Tradition & Culture
Bavarian culture is reflected in our daily lives, in our folk costumes and
festivals, and in traditions which are alive and well.

Bavarian culture is reflected in our daily lives, in our
folk costumes and festivals, and in traditions which are alive and well.
And
of course, we would be delighted to share this all with you. Visit one of
our many museums, for example, in which important exhibits attest to times long
past. Our heritage museum, for example, is home
to one of the best and most comprehensive collections of Alpine folk
art.
Join us as we celebrate at one of our effervescent village festivals, or gaze
on in amazement as you see the power that is harnessed to raise the maypole.
If you want to become more familiar with our culture and “take on life”,
there is perhaps nothing better than a performance at Ruhpolding’s very own Folk
Theatre.
St. George’s Ride in Ruhpolding
The
first Sunday in September is dedicated to St. George. More than 150
lovingly adorned horses and festive carriages will accompany the procession to
St. Valentine’s Church in Zell, bearing with them the carved figure of St.
George from Ruhpolding’s parish church. Click here for more info
